Part 3, number 41 -60.
41 to 60 Is Filled with blood and edge of your seat moments.
60. Silence of the Lambs- This was a twisted psycho thriller with, well a twist. Anthony Hopkins and Jodi Foster will be remembered for this one, for generations to come.
59. The Third Man (1949)- Another Orson Wells thriller. this one is about a man on vacation who gets sucked into the investigation of an old friend's mysterious death.
58. Vertigo (1958) - Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak (who is still alive) give powerful performances together again. I think Orson Wells would be even more in the limelight if it wasn't for the legendary director of this movie, Alfred Hitchcock.
57. City Lights- Chaplin Returns in what was considered a comedy. I call it a romance drama, because he takes up boxing among other things, to raise money for an operation on a blind woman that he loves. This was as heart warming a Chaplin movie as there is!
56. Rear Window - A great tale with intrigue, suspense, Raymond Burr, Grace Kelly, and James Stewart.
55. Rebel Without a Cause- The immortals, James Dean, and Natale Wood carried this one into Hollywood History. Then, they both went on to die too young!
54. Raiders of the Lost Arc - Indie was such a clever hero and creation. I can't imagine what would have happened if Tom Selleck said yes, and Harrison was never offered this role.
53. Rocky (1978)- One of the greatest under dog stories ever, stars the immortal Stallone, Talia Shire, Carl Weathers, Burt Young and of course, Bergiss Merideth. Stallone sacrificed almost everything and lived in his car while shooting this classic.
52. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Nicholson was elevated to a different status level after this masterpiece. He had been acting for years, but this one catapulted him.
51. Bringing Up Baby - Catherine Hepburn carries this wildly funny tale. She could play a nut quite well.
50. Midnight Cowboy (1969)- John Voight was such a different actor in this era. This is not one of my favorites at all, but the quality is hard to argue against.
49.Dr. Zhivago (1965) - Omar Sharif was awesome in this, portrayal of a Russian Dr. during WW1. Sir Alec was in this as well. How did he stay under the radar until Star Wars was released?
48. Dr Strangelove (19 ) or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb-This is still one of America's favorite screw ball comedies.
47. Ben Hur- (1959) This held the record for the most Academy Awards ever for about 40 years. This was about a Jewish Prince who was betrayed and imprisoned. There was only wat to secure his freedom.
46. The Philadelphia Story ( 1940) Jimmy Stewart, Katherine Hepburn and Carry Grant star in this zany romantic comedy. The cast alone gets it on the list somewhere!
45. All about Eve (1950) This a a great drama with Betty Davis and an outstanding supporting cast.
44. Some like it Hot (1959) This was probably Marilyn Monroe's best. Tony Curtis rose to the occasion as well.
43. Double Indemnity - An unlikely cast jells in greats like this one. This seemed to ramp up the careers of Barbara Stanwyck and Edward G. Robinson.
42. King Kong - One of the great horror classics that broke new ground, King Kong was a marvel of it's time. The cast and directing were very good as well.
41. Scarface (1983)- I don't know how this one can be left out. It was brutal, but the action was done very well, and the intensity of the main character was rare! I loved it.
